Thermia was founded in 1923 in Arvika, Sweden. Since then, the company’s patented technology has increased the efficiency of cooking stoves, hot water tanks, and heating furnaces.

Sweden’s first heat pump with integrated hot water tank saw the light of day in 1973. And it was developed by Thermia. Since then, thousands and thousands of heat pumps have been delivered to satisfied customers.

Today Thermia is a technology leader in heating field. Thermia owner, Danfoss, has selected premises in Arvika, Sweden, as the site for its global research and development. Here, at one of the leading development sites in Europe, the heat pumps of tomorrow are being engineered.

Thermia and Danfoss
Thermia is owned by Danfoss, which is a privately-owned Danish company that has production in 28 countries. Thermia Heat Pumps operates as an independent business unit within Danfoss Heating Division and is the competence centre for Danfoss’ future investment in heat pumps. The Danfoss Group has around 23,000 employees across the globe.
